This page explains the SmartDingo Form Tracker plans, how to buy a license, how to enter and
activate your key, how to move a license to another site, and how renewals, downloads and your
account work. Licensing is handled through Freemius — the same connection screen you saw when
you first activated the plugin.
Note The
(Free)plan needs no license key at all. You only need a key if you want the
paid features below.
Everything the plugin gates is driven by a single plan model. Use this matrix to decide.

Limits: form configurations 1 / 5 / 25 · visited pages 10 / 30 / 50 · retention: no plan cap
(0 = never delete, otherwise 1–120 months).
Note Plans are cumulative: Starter includes everything in Free, and Pro includes
everything in Starter. Lead retention and dashboard preferences aren’t a separate purchase — they
come with lead capture, so any paid plan has them.
The moment you need a paid plan is when you want submissions stored as leads (the Leads page,
dashboard and CSV export are all Starter and up). If you only need UTM/visitor tracking and
auto-fill into your existing form fields, the free plan is enough.
Note The free build (from WordPress.org) and the premium build are separate downloads. To use
a Starter/Pro key, install the premium ZIP from your account — see
Installation & setup.
Right after you activate the plugin, SmartDingo shows the Freemius activation screen. You can
also reach it any time from the SmartDingo Form Tracker → Account menu.
A successful activation shows your plan name, and the paid features unlock immediately — the
Leads page starts working, higher form-configuration and field limits apply, and (on Pro) chart
colours become editable.
Warning Only ever paste your license key into SmartDingo’s own activation field. Never
type it into unrelated forms, and never put it in a URL, a support ticket, or a screenshot.
A license key is a credential — treat it like a password.
Note If activation fails, confirm the site can reach the Freemius API (an outbound firewall or
a strict WAF can block it) and that the key isn’t already in use on more sites than your plan
allows. See Troubleshooting.
A license is tied to the sites where it’s activated (its “seats”). To reuse a key on a different
site — for example when migrating from staging to production — deactivate it on the old site
first, then activate it on the new one.
(Free) features.Note Deactivating the license only affects paid features — your settings, form
configurations and any stored leads stay in the database. It is not the same as deactivating the
plugin on the Plugins page.
Warning If you migrate a site by cloning it (staging → live), both copies may report the same
license. Deactivate on the copy you’re retiring and re-activate on the live site so your seat
count stays correct.
Everything about your subscription lives on the Account page (SmartDingo Form Tracker →
Account) and in your SmartDingo account on the web:
(Free) behaviour: the Leads page shows theNote Purchases, refunds, cancellations and billing questions are handled by SmartDingo /
Freemius, not from inside WordPress. Use the Contact or Support link under the SmartDingo
menu to reach the team.
(Free)On the free plan the Leads item in the SmartDingo menu carries a small star (★) to mark it
as a paid feature. Opening it doesn’t show a lead list — instead you see an upgrade prompt that
summarises what lead tracking adds (lead database with full tracking data, the visual dashboard,
filtered CSV export, native capture for the supported form plugins, and first-touch UTM
attribution) with an Upgrade to Starter button.
Once a Starter or Pro license is active, the star disappears and the Leads page shows your real
dashboard and lead table.
